Longtime WWJ Newsradio 950 anchor Roberta Jasina was laid off from the station this week amid budget cuts by parent company Audacy.
The 34-year station veteran posted an audio message to Facebook announcing the news. "I have to say, my heart was broken. I loved WWJ. I had the best job in the world."
Jasina appears to have been the only staffer cut in Detroit.
The day after she was laid off, she said her husband was diagnosed with cancer.
She didn’t only broadcast the news she crafted that morning news program like a sculptor creates masterpiece! Working with @robertanews was one of the highlights of my career. Wishing my friend and her family good health and the very best. pic.twitter.com/wljFXSjvjJ
