About 700 gallons of cooking oil destined for the Better Made potato chip factory on Detroit's east side spilled onto the ground Tuesday after the truck transporting it crashed near the facility.
The incident occurred during rush hour, around 8:30 a.m., in the 10000 block of Gratiot Avenue.
The Detroit Fire Department tells WXYZ that none of the oil entered the sewer system. The trucking company addressed the clean up.
The remaining oil in the truck was transferred to another vehicle.
Better Made, founded in Detroit in 1930, produces a variety of snacks, including chips, pretzels, and popcorn.
